First Day

Have you ever thought about blogging or whether those god-awful emails you send to family and friends are worth reading by anyone? I certainly have had those thoughts for years. It’s hard to believe it, but here I am twenty minutes after setting up my own blog with a name that begs you to chime in. Come on say-something – anything….

This all started because I am now bored with life after 5 pm. I no longer enjoy reading the New York Times or Washington Post or playing Wordle. The cryptic news flashes on my phone are also on a loop telling tales about personal matters for people I don’t know and don’t care about. For many years, I’ve been a news junkie, sitting in front of my favorite channel of the day after 5 (well ok – after 7) sliding from the left to the right as life goes on. No kidding. Thinking those newscaster talking heads were geniuses. Now, I just think their greatest talent is their eyesight and ability to read teleprompters.

So, today, the news scares the bejesus out of me and I’m glad to be sitting in the fourth quarter. We’ve got lots of talent in this country but the offspring of media forces them to fly beneath the radar to protect themselves and their loved ones. Today, our front runners seem unlikely leaders. I wonder if politics was always filled with the most inept candidates, leading us down the rabbit hole where we now sit. I admired those ghosts of decades past so much. Definitely glad I didn’t know their secrets.

AND, I absolutely detest the fact that “they” meddle in our lives in everything from child transitioning to what kind of fuel we can use. They seem to want to control how we vote too. I thought I was a fiscal conservative and a social liberal but now I just want to be a libertarian.

I’ll go back to work now. Say- something… please.
